A large impressive artwork to make a bold statement.
Some stages of an artwork need sheer madness. There's often exploration and new ways forward. Never does anything new come out of not being brave.
After a long absence of painting this beautiful flower, I experimented with my fuschias first and thought I might not remember which brushes I previously used, but I surprised myself and was happy to find that as soon as I poured the paint out I knew which round brush I needed to choose.
The first stage of the background was created with a credit card using a high pigment paynes grey and teal along with a low pigment white to help with the flow of the mix and texture.
Swirls of diluted pink were flicked onto the grey background to break the rythm and introduce the shade.
Leaves were added with a lighter shade of the background teal, then the fushias were lovingly created to fly in formation.
This artwork brings a surreal sense of the garden with a subtle rhythm and flow.
